In the Spiral project, the offices were arranged as three autonomous blocks
and the floor-plates were then 'spiralled' at one-third storey heights around
a central point, the blocks themselves being separated one from another by
a narrow atrium, open to the street.
Such was the flexibility of the design,
that within a three-to-four storey building, 55 different permutations of
space could be provided within one change of level. Allowing a two-thirds
or full-height storey change, the permutations increased exponentially.
