The school's existing theatre, the 400 Hall, is a significant building within the school's campus, the more so because of its strategic location at the confluence of key campus routes and its proximity to Willington Road, the Chapel and the Arch.
The new theatre has been inserted into this building and is designed for a capacity of 310 seats on two levels with a very intimate and very intense auditorium similar in principal to the Jerwood Vanbrugh Theatre at RADA.
A new foyer has been added to provide additional space and to connect the 400 Hall with its studio theatre behind. It has long cantilevered eaves for shelter and within it a white glass prism lit from a hidden roof-light above that will cause it to glow mysteriously.
The prism is the heart and hearth of the foyer - the place beside which people will gather and where performances will be given.
