The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, The Gielgud Theatre

The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art
The Gielgud Theatre, London: 1994-2000

There used to be a very flexible and particularly intimate small studio space in the old RADA building called Room 14. It was technically and environmentally flawed but it had a particular size and proportion that made it very much loved.

The new space has been based on this but is also fully sealed and air conditioned and equipped for rehearsals, television work and public performances. A particular feature of the space is the use of halfen channels within the wall cladding to provide a very fast and flexible fixing system for scenery, props, lighting etc.
